English teacher Sarah Silver is taking over theater this year for Arvada High School and is excited as ever that she gets to lead the program.
“I’m really excited to be doing theater, I did theater all through college, behind the scenes stuff so it feels like going back to my roots,” said Sarah Silver.
With this being Mrs. Sarah’s first year she says that she has some special plans and goals but she really wants to focus on putting out a quality production and making it strong. “In terms of special plans, I’m really hoping we can go to the Thespian Conference and perform our play, so that’s a big goal of mine. It’s a space where we can get feedback from real actors and directors” she said.
Mrs. Sarah also has help as well behind the scenes which she’s excited about. She says they have a good team with teachers like Mr. Patricio, Dr. E, and choir teacher Mrs. Condrones all volunteering to help out with the play this year.
Another plan Mrs. Sarah said she has for theater this year is trying to get new faces in the play and recruit some behind the scenes helpers. ”I think a lot of the behind the scenes people are actually actors in disguise so I would love to see them audition. I definitely wanna recruit more people, it’s always good to have new energy, we’re going to be doing kind of a new thing so it’s good to have new people there who are enthusiastic” said Sarah.
Mrs. Sarah definitely has a ton of good things planned for theater this year and says that she really wants to continue leading theater. “I would love to continue doing theater I’m actually really hoping that I can grow the program so I can get two sections of it next year instead of one, right now we have the intermediate students in with the beginner and I would like them to be two separate classes so I could really advance the material for the intermediate students,” Sarah said.
Overall Mrs Sarah is very excited to be doing theater this year, she has lots of good plans and goals for them and she’s very passionate about theater so everyone should be excited to see what’s to come for theater this year.
