The AHS Fall play is just around the corner with the theater hosting their show this Thursday, and from what I’ve heard from the cast it seems like nothing but excitement heading into their first show of the year.
“The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza” is all about telling the story of Greek mythology in under 40 minutes, but with a comedic twist. “The audience should expect to laugh and have a fun time with all of the references to Greek mythology and stupid jokes there are”, said senior actor Kodi Haswell. “I think the audience will love the character we have put into every role, all of the stupid jokes and funny scenes we’ve created”.
You can always expect to laugh and have fun watching AHS theater perform, but one thing different about this show is that it’s a one act. A one act meaning its one big run through of the whole show, with no intermission, just acting. While it’s new, the cast is seeming to pick up the fast pace of the show with ease. “This play is very different because of how fast paced it seems,” says Senior Actor Izaiah Ibarra. “Since it is one act it’s kinda like cramming an entire story into such a short segment”.
It seems like the formatting and speed of this show is the main thing that has changed this year, but the pace isn’t the only thing new. With new directors Sarah Silver and Patricio Illanes trying some new things out this year, the cast members seem to be right on board with them. “There have been lots of changes, especially with our directors. I’ve grown to like working with them, and it’s honestly been way more challenging, but also fun with how Sarah directs us.” Izaiah said.
The cast members are doing a good job embracing and working hard with the recent changes, and when asking what cast members love most about the play I think I know what may have helped them. Senior Kodi Haswell said it short and sweet. “The thing I love most about the play is how it brings people together” Then Senior Izaiah Ibarra expanded and said, “I love that I get to play two characters and I get to work with such a diverse cast. I get to be this high and mighty titan, Cronos, and then switch into the god of music whose emo, Orpheus. And having a group who all love what we do and actually have passion for our program makes it so much easier for everyone”.
So from what I’ve heard it sounds like AHS theater is filled with passionate actors who all love what they do. Personally, I’ve seen some of their rehearsals and it’s always nothing but smiles and laughs. So with that being said, the theater sounds confident and ready for their show this Thursday and everybody that goes to watch can expect to laugh lots. Don’t miss it!
