The Colorado league tournament was on Monday and Tuesday, April 22nd and 23rd starting at 9:oo AM. The girl’s tennis team had a long day at the league tournament but had fun. Coach Olivia Andrew-Kotarba stated, “The girls had a lot of endurance, showed out, and played their hearts out!” The team went home that day feeling accomplished as they placed 5th out of 9 schools as a team. Player Meridian Garcia (11) made it to the championship in the single-player matches and took second place overall!
The class 3A Regional tournament was on Wednesday, May 1st starting at 8:00 AM at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton. The girl’s tennis team had a lot of fun at regionals, coach Olivia Andrew-Kotarba commented “It was great to play against some high-caliber teams, there was great competition”. Two teams, Mirium Sanchez and Andrea Ramirez (1 doubles) and Zaylaysha Gambrell and Calla Yang (2 doubles) ended up placing higher than their original seed!
Overall, coach Olivia Andrew-Kotrba felt everyone significantly improved their skills throughout the season. The team left the season feeling accomplished, as most of them were beginner players, as well as Olivia Andrew-Kotarba was a first-year coach too.
