Arvada high schools flag Football first game was on Tuesday September 4th
With the season started we interviewed Coach V. One of the first questions we asked was do you think this program is strong? “I wish we had more participants, flag football is not that big of a sport compared to volleyball or softball” the flag football team has nine players on the team right now. It is a bit of a challenge only having nine players on the team. Since they also didn’t follow the program last year that could’ve also made not that many people know about Girls Flaf Football. “We had nine so then we didn’t follow it up the next year (2024) and now this year we have 9.” It was made apparent the lack of girls in the program could be something that hurts the team since it needs more players and that might affect how the season goes.
He also told us to take into consideration that it is fall season and most girls want to play Volleyball and softball which could be another reason why they don’t have that many players.
Coach V said “Yes and no we had nine participants two years ago and now that the sport is back we still have nine players we shocked everyone and almost made playoffs,” Since he said that this could encourage girls later on in the upcoming years to come and help the Girls Flag Football team improve and get stronger.
One of the struggles that Coach V talked about at the very beginning at the interview as he stated “Learning the sport is hard this is a struggle right now, learning the routes, also learning how to pull the belts,” those two were some of the most difficult challenges that Coach V thinks the Flag Football team will struggle with the most.
On the other hand Coach V said “Hopefully the ladies have fun, get a couple wins and continue women’s success at Arvada High School,” Coach V has not and won’t be giving up hope on our girls he believes in them carrying on success just like the other women’s teams at Arvada High School like the Softball and Volleyball teams.
