This February 26th, 22 students got BLS certified in Mr.Feeny’s Pathopysiology class.. BLS stands for basic lifesaving. From 8:50 to 2:05, they watched videos and examples from Feeny on how to do CPR and the Heimlich. There were mannequins to practice on, baby mannequins, practice AED machines, and more. They took this class to get certified and help with their PCT test in May.
Holly De La Fuente’s says, “I chose this class because I didn’t want to do chemistry. I think I might see myself in the medical field, probably as a nurse. The hardest BLS training I did was doing compressions cause it’s tiring. This skill is invaluable in life because if somethings happen to someone at least we know how to save their lives.”
Lily Halcomb-Kuhn’s says “I chose to take this class because I have an interest in the medical field as a Nurse, and I figured I would be able to get a headstart on the education for the field. The hardest part about BLS training was CPR; its easy to get tired, and the heel of my palm was really sore from it. This is a good skill to know because you never know what could happen.
CPR is a basic skill that everybody should learn, you never know when you’ll need to use it. Students that go into this pathway will have a better opportunity with more materials since Feeny got the grant.
