The first question asked, was “What does wrestling mean to you?” After a long thought, Joseph replies, “Wrestling means everything to me, I have been wrestling since I was 4. Wrestling is kinda my life, everything I do revolves around it.”
It’s no wonder why Ortiz is so damn good at wrestling, he has been doing it for over a decade!
The second question asked, was “What is your mindset to keep you motivated through all your challenges and tough bouts that have occurred throughout the years?”
Ortiz replied swiftly, exclaiming “I have to remember what my end goal is, and what I know I am for sure good enough to get to.”
Ortiz clearly has set goals for himself, and will not disappoint himself or anyone else, which leads into our next question.
The third question, “Where do you see yourself in one year, and what do you hope to be?”
Ortiz replies quickly, “Hopefully I’m committed by then, haha.” After he ponders a bit more, Ortiz says “For sure want to take state this year, and then going back to back next year, my senior year.”
Joseph has set himself very high expectations and is dedicated to making them.
The second to last question asked, was “Do you have any pre-match or post-match rituals that you do?”
Ortiz says, “Yes, of course, I pray before and after every match.”
The last question asked in the interview was, “Do you have any advice for upcoming wrestlers, or frankly anyone that wants to be like you?”
Ortiz replied, “Stick with it, and work hard, that will get you where you need to be.”
Ortiz is obviously a very well-respected and nice man, even behind the wrestling. Joseph has amazing expectations for himself and we all expect him to make them, and we all believe we can make them. Good luck with everything to Joseph Ortiz!
