After an electric ending to the 2024 NFL season everybody’s now looking forward to the playoffs. But after the huge season the NFL just had and with so many worthy players, we wanna see who the league wll name the NFL’s MVP.
Now typically the trend we see is year after year the MVP award gets handed to a quarterback. In fact the last time the MVP wasn’t a quarterback was in 2012 when running back Adrian Peterson won the award. But one player in the league has the small chance to end that 12 year streak and return the award back to the running back position. Saquon Barkey.
“I think he’s being overlooked because he’s a running back but he’s having a historically great season comparable to Adrian Petersons season when he won the MVP a while ago,” said Jeremiah Ware about Saquon Barkley. “I think Lamar and Josh are very deserving but before the season started no one expected Saquon to raise the Eagles to the level they are at right now compared to where they were last season”.
Now even though Saquon had an incredible season, after looking at the NFL MVP odds it seems like the MVP title is really only teetering between 2 AFC quarterbacks. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Both quarterbacks having had the best season of their career and both with a 49% chance of winning MVP are having a neck and neck MVP race.
“It’s mainly just like a battle between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson I think, but Josh Allen definitely deserves it this year,” Jack Kohn said about who he thinks should be MVP. “The award is called Most Valuable Player and he’s the best compared to everyone on his team whereas I think the Ravens would still do well without Lamar Jackson because they have other good players”.
Evan Dabelle made a similar point when he said “Josh Allens favored I think and plus he’s doing way better record wise than Lamar jackson. The Bills lost Steffon DIggs this season and everyone expected them to fall off but Josh Allens carried the team even after losing his best wide receiver”.
Both good points were made. Josh Allen despite losing his main target this year has carried the Buffalo Bills to a 13-4 Record. But some people made arguments that even though the surrounding roster should be considered during MVP, they think that stats are far more important when looking at who should win, especially when they put up the stats that Lamar Jackson has put up this season.
“The award should go to Lamar Jackson because he’s literally having one of the best quarterback seasons of all time comparable to prime Aaron Rodgers and he’s also broken multiple records through the season”, said Andre Smith about who should win MVP. “He’s put up far better numbers than any other quarterback in the league, his touchdown to interception is insane and he’s had about 3 or 4 games this year where he hasn’t thrown an incompletion and that just shows he should be MVP. But I think Lamars gonna get robbed and they’re gonna give it to Allen anyways just because Lamar won it last year”.
Tony Castaneda thought the same thing saying “Lamar Jacksons having the greatest quarterback season ever he’s broken so many records and the only reason I think they’ll give Josh Allen MVP is because they have the better record and because they beat the Chiefs and the Lions”.
So what I’m hearing from everybody is that this award is either going to Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. Saquon Barkley had an amazing season this year but everyone can agree that the 2 AFC quarterbacks are in a close fight for the award. Will Lamar Jackson win the award with his stat padded season or will Josh Allen win the award with his High Record season despite losing past players.
